On Thursday September 2nd at 10:00 am, Sharbot Lake Property Owners’ Association (SLPOA) members and volunteers will be removing some of the Eurasian Water-Milfoil (EWM) in the high-boat-traffic areas, east of the causeway. This initiative is to bring attention to the impact invasive species can have on water quality, habitat, wildlife and recreational activities and is part of SLPOA’s long-term strategy that focuses on the 'health of the lake' and specifically the spread of Eurasian Water-Milfoil and other invasive species. Information on identification and safe removal of EWM will be available.
Future plans include an aerial survey of Sharbot Lake via drone to identify and
map the extent of the spread of this invasive plant.
Public support through an SLPOA membership or a donation is welcome, so that
long-term efforts toward the benefit of the lake’s ecosystem can continue.
